Transparency
Paintings made on transparent silk fabric, stretched over frames repurposed from earlier works, so that the marks of previous paintings show through the new surface. Earlier decisions, earlier failures, earlier whole paintings — all of it still present, visible beneath what is happening now. I am interested in memory as a formal device, not just a subject.
