Stitches
I am especially interested in the idea of craft as fine art — and what happens when you refuse to separate them. My In Stitches series brings the history of embroidery into direct conversation with abstract painting. Sewing tapestry wool through and around linen carries the same evidence of decision-making as a brushstroke: a gesture committed to, visible, permanent. The material has its own deep history; I want to honour that whilst using it in a way that I see as a painting being formed.
